West Plains R7 School District

The West Plains R-7 School District which serves the community by providing education to more than 2,300 students each year was recently recognized as one of only 23 school districts in the state of Missouri which provided full-access for their elementary, middle, and high school students to Project Lead the Way (PLTW). Through pathways in robotics, computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, students not only learn technical skills, but also learn to solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate, and collaborate. The mission of PLTW is to empower students to thrive in an evolving world.

Missouri State University – West Plains

Missouri State University – West Plains is one of three branch campuses of the Missouri State University System with the others being in Springfield and Mountain Grove, Missouri.

The University is home to GOCAT (Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Technology). GOCAT offers degree and certificate programs in electronics, machining, CAD/CAM, PLC’s, controllers, robotics, hydraulics, welding, and more.

GOCAT is setup to provide customized training to new industries locating in the area or existing industries hiring more workers.
